In the movie Harold and Maude, a young man named Harold discovers that love is important in life. Love transforms a confused lost boy into a man who understands more about life and life's priceless gifts. Harold learns about love and the consequences its emotional consequences. He develops into a man with a good heart.

Harold discovers something in life he has never felt. He discovers the one thing in life that people can't live without. Love, as it is said to be, is not perfect and Harold encounters this. And because of love's flaws consequences are involved. Harold experiences true love with an older lady, Maude. He falls in love with a woman who has been living life a lot longer. He learns that love could come in all different sizes and age. Love came for Harold when he least expected it. He first sees Maude at a funeral and quickly realizes she plays the same games.

From the beginning he had a lot in common with Maude. Throughout the time he spent with Maude he learned a lesson. Maude has thought him to be happy or sad when ever he needs to be. She also thought him that money is not every thing. She shows him a world of fun that cost no money. Their daily activities that they do together involve no money and this is completely different from what he has ever known. She teaches Harold to be happy with his self and to appreciate the small things in life for example, nature. Love is a great thing, but like every great thing in life consequences are usually involved. Harold has felt to complete opposite emotions in a short period of time.
