In the prescribed text "Lord of the Flies", written by William Golding and the supplementary material that was viewed, "Two Hands" written and directed by Gregor Jordan, the subject of 'Changing Perspectives' is strongly shown between these two texts. The two texts share common links, ideas and techniques which all relates to a change in perspective. For example the absence of adults in Lord of the Flies to discipline the children shows no authority figure, this is also shown in Two Hands by the Police being owned by the lead under-world gang in Kings Cross. It is this lack of authority that makes the characters in the text change their perspective of things and also the lack of authority causes a change of perspective in the viewer.

Both share the idea of a civilization with no rules but while the boys in Lord of the Flies descend into savagery Jimmy in Two Hands escapes from it. There is also the idea of microcosm, the boys on the island in Lord of the Flies being isolated from society on the island relates to the isolation of Jimmy and Pando in the one place they know of, under-world Sydney. It is this isolation that helps the viewer focus on what the individual character is feeling thus contributing to the change in perspective.
