TattooingIt's the year 248 A.D the African tribesmen of the Zulu are preparing an honorable ceremony after a battle with the Maasai tribe. The warriors that have survived the battle return home to camp victorious and proud. While the dead are having graves prepared the living are having needles prepared to have their honor drawn into their skin with merely a needle and ink. They do this as a marking to remember the battle forever These African tribesman are being tattooed. Tattoos are being perceived as an intolerable way to express one's self. When viewed through current society tattoos are a natural form of expression. Tattooing has been around for longer than one might think. It dates back thousands of years ago in many different parts of the world. Although many have tattooed historians on the subject believe it was a group of Samoan warriors that would carve themselves with symbols of power and fear so the gods would aid them in their battles and strike fear in the hearts of there enemies.

In America sailors used a technique like tattooing they called "pricking" This was before the electric tattooing gun. Sailors would get marks showing pride, honor, past experiences and loved ones they couldn't see until they came home. Not all races have showed tattoos as artwork. Vikings for example they would burn themselves with hot iron then draw in the burn using ink. Around the year 1100 the Arab king ibn fadian describes a meeting with Vikings and he thought them very rude dirty and covered with horrible gruesome art. Slowly tattoos are becoming more accepted and popular and there are several percents and figures to prove this. Back in the 19 century one in one hundred males had tattoos.
