Victims of the Holocaust Hitler wanted to create a Master Race of Aryans that would control Europe. He used very powerful propaganda techniques to convince not only the German people, but countless others, that if they killed the people who stood in their way. Hitler told all of his followers that they would become rulers of the world. They destroyed any inferior race or minority including, Jews, Poles, gypsies, mentally ill, homosexuals, and blacks.

Hitler started to try and control the German military, police, and government, and he was successful. Hitler led an army of hatred. His men did what they could to kill as many Jews, children, or anything they really didn't like. They walked the streets of many, many countries trampling and destroying everything. Hitler ordered the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland in 1938. Hitler's army invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, forcing France and England to declare war on Germany.

A Blitzkrieg (lightning war) of German tanks and infantry swept through most of Western Europe as country after country fell to the German war machine. In 1941, Hitler ignored a non-aggression pact he had signed with the Soviet Union in August 1939. Several early victories after the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, were reversed with crushing defeats at Moscow and Stalin grad. The United States entered the war in December 1941. By 1944, the Allies invaded occupied Europe at Normandy Beach on the French coast, German cities were being destroyed by bombing, and Italy, Germany's major ally under the leadership of Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, had fallen. Japan was also an ally of Germany.

Hitler's first target was Germany's closest neighbor to the east, Poland. Hitler attacked Poland from three directions on September 1, 1939 and in just over one month, Poland surrendered,
