Internal and External Factors

Managers help the process of working with people and resources to accomplish goals of your employer/organization. There are four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All four of these functions must be used to ensure that everything operates at a smooth level. Managers tend to only focus on one or two of these functions, but is important to remind yourself of the other functions you aren't using and make sure they are looked at just as often. However, there are internal and external functions that may affect the functions of management.

Globalization/Technology

Globalization is the process of interaction and integration among people, companies and governments around the world. This is unique because generally speaking a company can have so many different divisions of their corporation if they are globalized.

Our book references companies that often use their offices that are located in different parts of the globe to perform one or more management function. I strongly feel that globalization wouldn't be a huge factor without technology. The Internet is the only hub where people can share information almost instantly. Countries that did not have access to the Internet are now realizing how much their country struggles to keep up with those with the Internet. Technology can have positive and negative effects on the business world. Technology at its current state is growing so rapidly, it's hard for companies to keep their tech up to date. It seems when they find a solution for one problem, they already are working on something better and more efficient. One positive effect technology has had on business are mobile solutions.
