"I like women, especially beautiful ones. If they have a good face and figure, I would much prefer to watch them being murdered than an ugly girl or a man"

Summary of extract.

• Sexual repression is how the Final girl survives; it's a link to the killer. • Transsexuals are usually represented as monstrous for example in 'God told me to' the character is linking the monster horror genre to slasher by not quite being 'normal'. • The Final girl looks for the killer because she is clever and knows she can beat him. • Women represented badly as they are seen as vulnerable or evil (e.g. The mother theory) • The male gaze. Because it is usually filmed with a male gaze, we never get rid of this stereotype of women being sexual objects. More people are led to believe it because of the way that the films are shot and presented.

• We build up a relationship to love the Final girl as we usually are made to feel like we are in the cupboard with her or in the car when the killer slashes the top open. This makes us fear for her life as we are in the same situation. Our relationship with the killer never gets better, we always start to hate the killer more and more as the film goes on. • Men who see horror don't just cheer on the misogynistic ideas and themes, they also cheer on the smarter, stronger female characters who have survived longer than that of the previous victims. 10 Quotes from the article. o Dario Argento 'I like women, especially beautiful ones.
