Human Rights Violations and Prevention: Egypt

Over the past ten years, the country of Egypt has faced a number of human rights violations. Egypt is located in the northeastern corner of Africa. The country roughly covers a span of about 362,662 miles. There is an estimated population of about 84.5 million people with about 3,280 people living within each square mile. Being situated in Africa, Egypt has two main exports which are petroleum and cotton and they also manufacture other petroleum products. With a country this big and crowed, there is no wonder as to why this country faces so many human rights violations. Egypt has a 30/30 ratio with over half of the population being under the age of thirty and those that have gone to college face an unemployment rate of thirty percent.

With a population this large, Egypt faces major problems dealing with their leadership, religious freedom, as well as torture. Before the close of this paper, I would like to uncover the causes of these violations and also suggest some of the things that are being done or that could be done to end the ongoing suffering of the citizens of Egypt (Egypt PowerPoint).

Human rights violations have been no stranger in Egypt however they increased in number under the presidency of Hosni Mubarak and Mohamed Morsi. As the fourth president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak governed for nearly thirty years (Egypt PowerPont). During his presidency, he made many promises of economic and social reform. He resolved Egypt's relationship with Israel as well as gained a relationship with the United States keeping them as their principle aid donor.
