Treason- the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family.
Bribery-money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust, something that serves to induce or influence.
Other High crimes and Misdemeanors- mis-demeanors or bad behavior such as neglect of duty and corruption, great offenses.
What is the purpose of impeachment proceedings?
To conclude whether the allegations and the facts presented may constitute an impeachable offenses.

What would you recommend as a replacement if Congress determined that impeachment must be replaced?
I would not change it but I had too... Well I would create The Removal of Power Court.
A Supreme Court Justice will be the judge over the proceedings. A mix of randomly selected Representatives and Senators will be the Jury. This will be the process if the President or for any one from the Executive branch.
