"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."This one quote means a lot, especially to me. It means that no matter what you accomplish, no matter what milestone you reach, it doesn't matter. What matters is how you got there and what you feel about it. If you reach some goal that you have had for some while, something that really means something to you, all of the effort and time that was put into getting there will all go to waste if you get there in a manner that you yourself don't approve of. You can't be proud of something when you aren't proud of what got you there.

Someone can get millions of dollars and mountains of gold, and not be pleased if behind all that is something that plays on their conscious. Just the same way, someone, myself in this case, can gain respect but not be fulfilled by it.

I used to have a hard time with many of my schoolmates a while back and I did everything I could possibly think of to get their respect. A lot of the things I tried didn't work so I resorted to being rude, hot headed, and intimidating. This did earn me respect, solely because people didn't want any trouble. Initially, I was pleased that people stopped irritating me and got off my back.

But as time went on, I realized that these people now didn't want to have anything to do with me because of my attitude that was becoming more of a habit for me. This carried into my circle of friends once I was really used to that way of dealing with people, and slowly, my tight little circle began to drift apart. My friends...
