Everyday thousands of people find themselves trying to solve their decorating dilemmas. They sit for hours going through magazines searching for just the right picture or idea that will improve their home. When faced with these problems and questions, people often feel overwhelmed by the possibilities. They fear making a mistake, and distress is created because the thought of what redecorating will cost. It might cost a little extra to go to a professional, but it is money well spent. A professional interior designer is someone who is qualified through education and experience in this particular field. Their expertise lies in fundamental design, space planning, design analysis, and the design of all interior spaces. They also have a basic understanding in associated areas of environmental design. Part of an interior designer=s education includes learning and knowing the basic principals which include: light and color, surface and textures, furniture and accessories.

Light and colors are one of the main elements to liven up a room (Design). Color adds beauty while it also sets the mood. Whether it is calming, warm, romantic, or airy, color can give any room a specific feel. In order to utilize a color, the physical properties of light, color sensitivity and contrast must be taken into account. Interior designers often use a color wheel arranged with red, blue, and yellow designated as the primary colors. Designers use this system and other aides to plan out the color schemes for a room. By using this system they can arrange several different samples that they can present to their clients.
