I chose myself to write this paper about. I know my roots, my culture, my family, and the social problems in my country and how they affect my behavior.
I was born 21 years ago in Mar del Plata city. Mar del Plata is the first tourist city in Argentina. My father, my mother, my two older sisters and I compose my family. As soon as I was born I was given an ascribed status that is " a social position that someone receives at birth or assumes involuntary later in life " (p.140, J.Macionis). My ascribed statuses are Argentinean, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and granddaughter. As I grew older, I got different achieved status, which is " a social position that someone assumes voluntarily and that reflects personal ability and effort " (p.141, J.Macionis). My achieved statuses are student, friend, girlfriend, foreigner and bilingual person.
I have not had any serious psychological problems through my life.

This essay doesn't seem to follow the same structure as many essays, but it is still very clear and engaging. The writer uses therminolgy of from a sociological text to descibe her own life which seems like a very good way to learn thise terms, she personalizes them.
