Causes of Suicide

Suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem. This taboo has been affecting the lives of the victims and the people who love them for many years and is often a hard subject to discuss. My brother Michael Boling attempted suicide when he was nineteen years old and when asked why he tried to end his life he replied, "I just didn't know what else to do. I was so unhappy and my conscious was blurred by all the drugs I had been doing. I felt so useless, I didn't want to burden anyone; I'm so thankful I am alive." Michael was luckily resuscitated after he had hung himself from the pillars in the family's garage and survived. Unfortunately, thousands of people every year commit suicide as a desperate attempt to escape from the world and all the issues that have taken over their lives and most are very successful.

Every day there are approximately eleven youth suicides according to the teen suicide prevention society and those numbers continue to increase every year. Teen suicide is a cry out for help and teens feel that they need to end their lives for reasons including: psychological disorders, drug or alcohol abuse, feeling worthless when they do not fit in or meet the requirements of society, overwhelming amounts of stress due to schoolwork and social influence, and lack of support towards a teens homosexuality.

Psychological disorders play a huge role in teen suicide and one disorder in particular, which is the main cause of suicide, is depression. Depression is a disorder that can be developed through other psychological disorders as well. For instance, if a teenage girl has been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, she is most likely going to be diagnosed with depression as well due to her...
