"Jim and Jimi"

Like most music lovers you have heard the names Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Both of these names were legends in the 1960's, and to this day both are two of the greatest rock-n-roll icons the world has ever known. But how does two different people, from different parts of the country wind up having almost identical lives?

Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle Washington on November 27, 1942. When Hendrix was 5 years old he acquired his first guitar. With Hendrix being a natural lefty he taught himself to play a right handed Fender Stratocaster upside down and began his journey to become the greatest guitarist the world will ever know. Whereas, Jim Morrison coming from wealth and being brought up in Melbourne Florida had different life ambitions altogether. Music was not the career choice for Morrison, his dreams were in film after finishing high school Jim received a scholarship to U.C.L.A.

Film School. While pursuing his dream he meets a local band and the "Doors" were born.

Although both Hendrix and Morrison are musicians their sounds and style differ. Hendrix with his funkadelic lyrics and his electrifying guitar playing rocked the 60's into a new era of rock-n-roll.

As to where Morrison on the other hand seduced the music world with his dark poetic lyrics that seemed almost depressing at times followed up with psychedelic beats and harmonies. Two very different sounds from two distinct musicians with one main purpose and that was to change rock-n-roll forever.
