Nanotechnology can help us in many ways. Simile's products and solutions incorporate patent-pending technology in statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, information theory, pattern recognition and linguistics. The technology discovers patterns present in text based on the use and frequency of words or terms that correlate with a specific idea or concept. In doing so, Simile creates a multi-dimensional mathematical symbol for a document or piece of text and rapidly retrieves similar symbols in other information available to the software. Since the computer understands the meaning of the information, it can then organize it, categorize it, tag it, link it to other related content and deliver it based on stated preferences, learned behavior or established business rules.

Reasoning Engine The core of Simile's software is its Reasoning Engine. The Reasoning Engine is a flexible, modular software framework capable of using a variety of analytical models, such as Bayesian inference, vector-space or belief networks to translate concepts within a document into a compact symbol which can then be stored in any database. Simile's algorithms derive heavily from statistical natural language processing (StatNLP), which treats language as a series of mathematical symbols that can be...
