Just War Proposal
It seems that the United States and our other allies attacked Iraq because there was
an opportunity of capturing or killing highly ranked officials. When the news of this
came in our forces jumped right on this mission. They used different types of missiles,
launching them off of boats and dropping them from the air. This information was just a
rumor and there was no just cause of this attack (www.cnn.com/2003/world/).
But on the contrary war is only permissible if its purpose is to retaliate against a
wrong already committed, or to pre-empt an anticipated attack. The Iraqis did not plan to
attack our forces first, so that means there was no anticipated attack nor was there
retaliation to an attack. Our forces broke the Just Cause by starting to bomb Iraq. The
initiation of physical force is wrong and may justly be resisted. Self-defense against
physical aggression is putatively the only sufficient reason for just cause, so when the
Iraqis retaliated they weren't breaking the theory (http://www.utm.edu/research/iep/).
It seems that our forces are bombing innocent places where Saddham's regime is
not located. They are bombing innocent civilians that have nothing to do with this war.
Our forces seem like they are doing this for self-interest. It is the soldier's self-interest if
they want to fight a just war or not
(http://www.virtualology.com/virtualwarmuseum.com/hallofamericanwarsandconflicts/).
But on the contrary our forces are out in Iraq helping the people of Iraq to restore
freedom within them. They are also there to crack down on all of Saddham's nuclear and
chemical weapons. This is the Right Intention of the whole world. Nobody wants to be
threatened, so we decided to go into Iraq and fix it up. No longer will any single person
be threatened after this (http://www.arabnews.com/Article.asp?ID=25627).
It seems that Saddam...
