V. The children's fascination with the Radleys/ about Arthur (Boo) Radley

Kids are always curious and inquisitive. The childhood is full of experience and joy. But there are always things that a kid needs to learn before they arrive to be an adult. In Kill a Mockingbird Scout and Jem are the two explorers. The curiosity for the Radleys started at the beginning of the story. Everyone is interested in people who are odd or different. Jem and Scout heard a lot about the mystery of Boo Radley whose real name is Arthur Radley. Kids invented this name to make the character more exciting and interesting between them." Jem figured that Mr. Radley kept him chained to the bed most of the time" (p6). This quote shows how speculative kids are. The imagination and the fantasy are different when people are small.

Kids do not really know facts they are just wondering things such as Jem and Scout did.

And what kids of Maycomb think about the mysterious Boo Radley?

Like all the children Jem and Scout was afraid of Boo. No one saw him before and all those gossips about him was really scaring everyone. Only because he was different. "He said it began the summer Dill came to us, when Dill first gave us the idea of making Boo Radley come out" (p1). Kids start to find out something about Boo. So they wrote to him and tried to see him some ways. In their minds Boo was a monster but they wanted to see him. So they wondered how they could lure him out of the house.
