In this world there are few people who you can truly admire. Most people question who I admire and just ask why. There is no explaining it, it's just who I am.

One of the few people I admire is Kurt Cobain.

Kurt Donald Cobain was a singer, songwriter, and a bandleader. He was born on February 20, 1967 in Hoquaim, Washington. His parents were a cocktail waitress and an auto mechanic and he had a younger sister Kim. Most people say Kurt became "Departed" from the world at a very young age, this is because when he was seven, his parents divorced and he became very anti-social and withdrawn. When he was a child, he suffered from chronic respiratory problems.

The reason I admire Kurt Cobain is because he was a great musician and he had a great mind. When he was a teenager, he loved punk and heavy metal bands, such as The Sex Pistols, Joy Division, and The Melvins.

When Kurt finished high school him and a friend, Krist Novoselic, moved into Olympia and then they formed a rock band called Nirvana in 1986. In this band, there was Kurt, Cobain, Novoselic, and drummer Chad Channing. In 1988, Nirvana was performing their "punkish" music or grunge music throughout the country. Nirvana recorded their first album "Bleach" on a Seattle independent label "Sub Pop" in 1989, Dave Grohl replaced Channing on the drums.

Nirvana signed on with Geffen Records in 1991, releasing "Nevermind" which had the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit". This song was a breakthrough hit for the band, and sold ten million copies and eared a reported $550 million in the US alone. Nirvana's overnight success put pressure on Cobain who was 24. He began to worry about how his music was being received and how he could regain control of his seemingly uncontrollable future. Because of all, this stress, he began to use heroin in the early 1990's, he felt he did this because he wanted to deal with a nagging stomach and irritable colon. In February 1992, Kurt married a rock/singer musician Courtney Love, who had their daughter, Francis Bean Cobain who was born on August 18, 199. In 1992, Nirvana released "Incedticide" and in August 1992 Cobain was hospitalized for heroin abuse in August 1992. Nirvana's highly acclaimed album "Utero" was released in 1993. It was full of highly personal lyrics that Cobain made about his life long struggles. In November 1993, the band completed a MTV Unplugged performance and the went on a European tour in the winter of 1993-94. The tour was canceled after twenty concerts because Cobain developed his childhood respiratory problems.

On March 4, 1994, Cobain took about fifty prescription painkillers with champagne and was then rushed to the hospital in a coma. This was ruled an accident and kept out of the media. Directly afterwards, he was put in a chemical dependency clinic in Los Angeles, but he left after a few days. On April 5, 1994 in his guest home in Seattle, Kurt Cobain killed himself, by placing a shotgun into his mouth, and fired it killing himself instantly. He had written a long suicide note addressed to his wife and daughter.

In conclusion, Kart Cobain was a great singer, songwriter, and musician. I don't believe he killed himself, I think that his wife, Courtney Love, got him drunk and blasted out of his mind and killed him, she used him to get where she wanted and when she was finished she just got rid of him. The death of Kurt Cobain was tragic to music. I believe he was one of the best songwriters, and the world will not be the same without the true Nirvana music.
