1.Introduction:Las Vegas is the most populous city in the US State of Nevada, and an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment. Las Vegas, which bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World is famous for the number of casino resorts and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, it is the 28th most populous city in the United States with an estimated population by the U.S. Census Bureau of 603,093 as of 2008. The estimated population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area as of 2007 was 1.836.333.

Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. With the growth that followed, at the close of the century Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in the 20th century. The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City.

2. Discuss the contention that Las Vegas has no direct competition anywhere in the worldLas Vegas is top destination in entertainment and gambling tourism.

Las Vegas has no direct competitors because no other destination offers the same volume of entertainment. Due to outstanding differentiation, constantly development and updating of products, market segmentation, sales and promotions Las Vegas proffer non- stop entertainment for tourists. Being unique and different gives Las Vegas marketing strength over other destinations. Since entertainment has become tempting in the most societies, no other place, not New York, not Atlantic City, not Monaco offers more of fun in more forms than Las Vegas. People feel like they HAVE to see Las Vegas. It has become the wonder of the post-modern world.

Las Vegas knows its markets, understands their desires and meets their needs effectively.
