Michael J. Fox- A Leader in the Showing

"Whatever you do, never ever play the result." Michael J. Fox isn't just a high school dropout or an actor. He is not just known by his works on set or his fame status. Fox is also known as a leader, a leader in ways that you have to take a step further to see how he leads those around him. He is known to motivate those around who are willing to listen; he has a sense of vision of the bigger picture; he's able to handle conflict and not back down and most of all, he is willing to act at a moment's notice.

The motivation you see today on the search for a cure for Parkinson's disease started through Michael J. Fox. When you hear of Parkinson's disease, what do you think of? Many, would say that it occurs in the elders' after the age of 50 and that there is no need to find a cure for it since they already lived their lives or they would just have no clue on what the disease was.

Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system causing shaking, rigidity, slowness of movement and difficulty with walking, movement, and coordination which continues to worsen over time.

At the age of 29, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, one of the first to get it at a very young age. After becoming public with his diagnoses in 1998, he heard of a fan that has Parkinson's as well and realized that he had an opportunity to help others like him by becoming an activist and using his fame to promote awareness and find a cure.
