In the early 1400's a new style begun, "The Renaissance". Renaissance is French for "rebirth". Everyone related it to real life. Some didn't believe in the idea of life after death, others liked the idea and turned it into creativity. It became an important period in history. It was also known as the Golden Age of the arts, literature, and sciences. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the many great and sculptors during the renaissance. He introduced life and perspective in his paintings and sculptors. For example, the Annunciation which was one of his more religious paintings. Leonardo's background, fascinating style, and his intriguing symbols, influenced the Annunciation into a magnificent piece of art.

Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452. He was born near the mountain village of Vinci, Italy. (Malam pg. 6). Leonardo was left handed. Malam 20) His father was Ser. Piero Da Vinci, and his mother was Catrina.

Leonardo went to live wit his grandparents when he was a baby. (Malam pg. 7). When he was five he went to live with his father and stepmother. (Malam pg. 7). As Leonardo grew up his father took him to be taught by Andrea Del Verrocchio. (Malam pg. 8). When he was twenty, Verrocchio wanted Leonardo to finish a painting of John the Baptist, baptizing Jesus Christ. (Malam pg. 9). Leonardo was interested more in nature than in religious scenes or important people. (Malam pg. 10). In 1482, when Leonardo was thirty, he left Florence, and went to work for Duke Lodovico Sforza, of Milan. (Malam pg. 11).
