Lord of the flies

By William Golding

The novel "Lord of the Flies", by William Golding was written to prove that each human have a natural propensity to be evil. Golding wrote the in 1956. The novel is based on a group of British boys stranded on an island with no adults, and it's basically their decisions that keep them alive.

The film version stayed faithful to the novel in three ways. One of the ways is when in both movie and book Jack shows savagery about hunting. In the text it states " He swung back his right arm and hurled the spear with all his strength. From the pig run came the quick, hard patter of hoofs, a castanet sound , seductive, maddening-the promise of meat".(pg.49) The second way the film stayed faithful was when they both included that when the boys made the fire and it went out of control.

In the text it states" Beneath the capering boys a quarter of a mile long of forest was savaged with smoke and flame".(pg.44) The third one is both movie and book had how Jack picks( dislikes) on Piggy. In the text it states" Jack dragged his away from the fire . You're always scared yah- fatty!".(pg.45)

The film version departed from the novel in several ways. One way is when the movied had shown Jack slapping Piggy. In the book it doesn't say that. It just has Jack disliking Piggy. In the book they have Ralph as much of a mean person. In the movie Ralph is more caring and understanding. In the book they have ralph as more of a ignorant person. In the text it states" Sucks to your ass-mar"(pg.13). This proves...
