THE LOST GENERATION

With the beginning of World War I many things had changed for America. This war happened between in the years of 1914 and 1918. At first America did not join the war but in 1917 they joined it to support it. When it was finished, soldiers who came back to their country from Europe, told stories of suffer and the badness of war. But there was something that made them affected. It was Paris, France. Beauty of Paris was told by them to the society.

After the war, causes of it was still very strong for America that the war made America a super power in the world with Russia. This was an opening for them to the world. International trade began in America and economical development showed itself as a new movement which was called American Dream. Bussines became very important according to that materialistic and capitalistic concepts created "American Dream".

Making money by working hard and new discoviries in science, electronic and mechanic causes a crazy society that affected with everything new.

After the prohibition of alcohol, organised crimes increased and mafia showed itself in America. New underground drinking places occured. In this situation everything went bad for the government.

Twenties called "Roaring Years" because people living their lives for fun and crazy time.

The Great Depression in the United States was one of the worst and longest economic collapses in the history of the modern industrial world. The depression lasted from the end of 1929 until the early 1940s. Businesses and banks closed their doors, people lost their jobs and homes. In 1933, at the worst point in the depression, more than 15 million Americans were unemployed. Americans in the 1920s give more importance to richness and fun. People begin to buy what they...
