If given the chance, marijuana could possibly have very positive effects on The United States health system, economy, and even crime. Cannabis is a naturally growing plant that can be harvested in fairly harsh conditions and has very many uses ranging from ropes that can be made from the plants tough fibers to paints made out of the plants oils. Cannabis is a dioecious plant, meaning that is comes as separate male and female plants, the male plants are generally taller and thinner and also have flower like pods attached to it. the female plant is darker and shorter and is the plant thats used for medical and recreational purposes. Today more and more people are siding with pro in the marijuana debate. Currently twenty one states and DC have passed a medical marijuana use bill ("Medical Marijuana States," 2014). seeing that so many states have already allowed the plant to be used for such an important part of our life, medicine, should make the drug legal.

Medically speaking, the plant is a miracle drug. It has many uses and very little negative reactions. Marijuana can be used to relieve pain for its users and has many other benefits. OCD, ADD, ADHD, and Alzheimer's can all be treated with medical marijuana, and those are only a few examples. When tested, The drug shows very little proven medical drawbacks. Unlike common painkillers and sleep aids, marijuana isn't addictive. An argument could be made to say that marijuana users are addicted to the high and that by using so much their body will be harmed. (Cascio.)
