The Green Field Paper Company was established in 1992 in San Diego California. The name Green Field Paper Company refers to the non wood recycled ingredients which the company produces all its recycled paper. All of Greenfields products are made from 100 percent recycled paper. In fact the company was awarded Recycler of the Year, City of San Diego, 1997, 2007 and 2008.

Product LineAside from hemp paper, Greenfield's product line consists of a variety of recycled tree free papers. Some of which can be planted as they are embedded with wild flower seeds. Greenfield also produces garlic paper, junk mail paper, plantable bookmarks, recycled cards, recycled holiday cards, recycled gift wrap, and wedding paper.

The company specializes in handmade paper. Their machine made Hemp Heritage paper is manufactured in New England. The hemp paper uses the same recycled fiber but is infused with hemp threads. 1). Currently, the hemp paper division only produces sketch, drawing, journal, and note paper.

HempHemp is a natural fiber product of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp is a cousin to the marijuana plant and has been used for a variety of purposes such rope, canvas and paper. "Hemp can replace any product made from timber" (Nielson, 2003, 1). Hemp has a long history which dates back approximately 12,000 years and was used for its fibers for rope and as a food source. In the United States two of the founding fathers, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp. Ben Franklin had a hemp paper mill and the Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper.
