"I got you to look allow after me, and you got me to look after you." This quote expresses George and Lennie's companion ship and their dependency on each other - a relationship often viewed in the movie. The story begins as George and Lennie escape from Weed, a small northern Californian city because a young girl had mistakenly accused Lennie of raping her, when he instead was simply trying to feel the fabric of her dress. The story moves on with the duo's search for new jobs, eventually leading them to Soledad, where they meet their new employer and co-workers.

For the rest of the movie, the actors have small encounters with soap opera-like drama, such as the old man, Candy, getting his dog shot and Curley getting his hand crushed by Lennie.

Also, repeatedly during the movie, Lennie seems determined to tell everyone his and George's even after being told not too.

The entire movie moves from symbol to symbol - which all foreshadows Lennies death. At the end, Lennie does something terrible and George is forced to make a horrible choice but only after making the situation the best he could for his dear friend Lennie.

Lennie is mentally handicapped and perhaps one of the genuinely nicest people ever seen. Big and strong, he is ever so gentle, only using his brute force when his friend George tells him too, or when he gets scared. George, on the other hand, is extremely smart. He cares very much for his friend, as shown by how he does the filthy...
