A Midsummer Night's Dream Theseus - The Duke of Athens. Theseus Discusses with Hippolyta that he is anxious for their wedding. He complains that the days don't pass quick enough, he is too anxious to wait. Tells Hermia that she can either die or become a nun if she chooses not to marry Demetrius. He tells Hermia that she has the next new moon to make her decision.

Hippolyta - The Queen of the Amazon. About to marry Theseus in five days and tells Theseus that the nights will pass quickly by dreams.

Egeus - Father of Hermia. Argues to the Duke that his daughter Hermia wants to marry Lysander but he wants her to marry Demetrius. He takes both men to the Duke.

Hermia - Daughter of Egeus. Tells Duke that she loves Lysander and not Demetrius. Absolutely refuses to marry Demetrius.

Demetrius - Father's choice for hermia's husband.

Tells Theseus that he is worthy of Hermia.

Lysander - Hermia's true love. Tells Theseus that he is the worthier one and Hermia loves him and not Demetrius.
