Art Assignment

'Modern art refers to the then new approach to art that placed emphasis on representing emotions, themes, and various abstractions.'(Wikipedia, 2010)

The quote above means that art was starting to be looked at from a different perspective and new, cutting edge approaches to modern art were emerging into the world with some movements such as Op art, Dada, futurism and Bauhaus emerging and becoming more popular. Art in this time frame has placed emphasis on emotions, themes and abstractions of art because they were different to the more classical pieces of artwork that have less emotion put into them or shown in them over the last hundred or so years.

The artists that will be included in this essay are Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol and how they carried on the avant garde, a radically new and original, approach to modern art artists before Pollock and Warhol in their respective areas of art.

This essay will cover Pollock and Warhol's lives that influenced their art works, some techniques of each artists respective styles and an overview of the chosen artworks.
