Over the years heavy metal has came a long way. Early in its creation it was looked down upon and not very popular. Although time is changing and so are people. In today's world heavy metal is becoming popular and is growing at a very fast rate.
If I were to ask you what you think heavy metal is all about, what would you say? An average person would probably say it's about loud music, black clothes, drugs, and banning your head around. When I hear stuff like that it really gets to me deep inside. Have you ever heard, "don't judge a book by its cover". Well that's the case here.
When I think about heavy metal or any music for that matter, I think of what the artist is trying to say. That's why they are called music artists; they are trying to paint a picture in your mind, set an emotional feeling, or just get their point across.
When a music artist writes a song, they are usually writing about how they feel about things, even if there trying to write about things that will sell, the lyrics are still coming from there thoughts.
Different songs and bands try to set different feelings. Some music artists make you feel good about your self, happy, sad, angry, and some try to relate to you. What ever the message or mood that they are trying to send, it is all music and should not be looked down upon.
