Benito Mussolini was born on July 29, 1883. He looked up to his father who taught him many skills, but later his father neglected him. At first he was trained to become a teacher. But then he turned to the newspaper business and became a journalist. This is where he got his powerful speaking skills that helped him lead the country. He was arrested several times for bad mouthing the government and other related issues. When he was 26, he married his wife and a year later they had their first child. He became the editor of the newspaper when he was 29. Then a couple years later, World War One began. At first he didn't want to join the war, but shortly after he changed his mind and fought in the war. After the War in 1919, Mussolini formed a private army called the Black shirts. He also created a political party because he thought that dictatorship was the best way to run Italy.

By using his strong speaking skills he made it way all the way up to Prime Minister. Once there, he demolished the other parties and became the dictator of Italy. He did this with the Black Shirts. In 1924, a man tried to bring down Mussolini but he was killed soon after, possibly murdered. Mussolini led Italy with support for many years. Then a young Hitler came into the picture. Hitler looked up to Mussolini as Hitler was the dictator of Germany. Hitler and Mussolini became friends and allies. Mussolini secretly didn't like Hitler too much but didn't show it in public.
