My Father

My father is both my role model and my hero. My father is why I am such a strong and independent person. He taught me everything he knew about life. I would not be the person I am today if it was not for him. I cannot imagine how my life would be like if I had not had him as a father.

My father was born and raised within the state of Missouri. After he graduated from high school, he joined the Navy. When his four years of service came to an end, he went to college and obtained a master's degree in hotel and restaurant management. He then went on to manage hotel and resorts in Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam. There would be times where he would take business trips to the Philippines and on one of those trips, he met my mother.

They started to date each other and a year later I was born. My father brought my mother and I back to Guam to live with him. The three of us were a very happy family.

Our family had a couple of very joyful years before things started to get rocky. My father and mother started to argue constantly. My mother decided she had enough and left my father and I. My father took full responsibility of me. He juggled work, taking care of me, and a new relationship with someone he met. He showed me what hard work really means. Even If he was the boss of a big hotel he never relied on anyone to do his work. He once told me, "Jessie, remember that if you want something done right you have to do...
