INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND

The problem living in the Information age is 'paradoxical' (HowStuffWorks Inc, 2014). It is not easy keeping track of these information. Therefore, RSS (short form for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) was introduced in 1997. It is a format that keeps track of the information and updates that the user want to read in the Internet, in a more organised and less tedious way (Software Garden Inc 2004). In order to do that, one would need a proper email, a RSS reader software or aggregator.

Examples of RSS aggregators are Pulse, Flipboard, Feedly etcetera.

The death of Google Reader(a RSS reader software) opens more opportunities for other RSS aggregators to come out with news ways to attract more users. So how does different contributing factors affect people's choice of RSS feeds? What makes them still choose to subscribe to their desired RSS feeds and respective aggregators? In this Fieldwork activity, findings and analyses will be done through research by observing and analysing the contents of a RSS aggregator named Flipboard.

FLIPBOARD

Flipboard is a personalised magazine application that allows you to create and collect information and news that the user would like to see and read all on one platform (WhistleOut.com, 2014).
