Ally lemmer Elie Wiesel Night Elie wiesel was only 15 years old when his family got deported by the Nazis. He spent 3 years in multiple concentration camps with his father. This essay will explain the emotional, spiritual, and physical changes Elie went through. Physically, Elie essentially changes from being a healthy human being into a walking skeleton. The Jews can be defined as "skin and bones". They were also very weak. Being forced to work at their labor camps must have been extremely tough. The lack of food provided at the camps, as well as the poor quality of it made him that way. The Jews were only fed soup and bread. It gets to the point where everything revolves around food and each person's own survival. For example, on page 104, Elie's father pleas that the other prisoners were beating him. Elie then says " I began to abuse his neighbors.

They laughed at me. I promised them bread, soup…" This quote shows that food is the most beneficial want in the concentration camps. That is why he uses bread and soup in order to stop the other prisoners from giving his father a hard time. Elie has a definite change emotionally. Elie's emotional change in the book all have to do with his feelings towards his father growing stronger, bringing them together. On page 4 Elie says "My father was a cultured man, rather unsentimental. He rarely displayed his feelings, not even within his family, and was more involved with the welfare of others than with that of his own kin." This quote explains how Elie doesn't have a good relationship with his father since his father cares more about his community than his own family. On page 68 Elie says "I ran to look for my...
