Nostradamus was a healer, a theorist, an intellectual, and a very persuasive figure. I intend to prove that Nostradamus formulated extraordinary predictions, some of which are said to have come true, and portray his mortality at the same time. I propose that this man is a social icon, not only during the 16th century, but also today; by sharing some views of the enlightenment, he gathers a cult following overtime, and, with his predictions, he will play a heavy role in the future to come.

The 16th century was full of disease and, as a healer, Nostradamus was able to rid many people of this black plague. Nostradamus went to Mont. Pellier to obtain his Doctor's degree and began his healing. Hundreds of years ago a plague was devastating most areas of the world. It was possible to be hung for mundane crimes, and tyrants ruled the earth as kings.

The issue of religion was in an uproar as one division attacked another. Michel de Nostradame's radical philosophies have led to threats perpetrated by the Catholic church, which forced Michel to change his name to Nostradamus. His father, James, was a notary." They believe that Nostradamus formed his great predictions from the wise Jewish teachings, and he came to practice medicine through his mother's side.
