People's Republic of China Global Market
Success in China since 1984 led to an expansion agreement for 2006-2015 following lessons learned. Affordable and nutritious bottled water and milk products are ranked high in need with a preference for healthy products without artificial additives which is a natural expansion option during China's economic boom. According to the results from the 46 Kraft offices in China, the timing is right for healthy choices and worker availability. Expansion into India, a border country, is imminent and this may prove to be the first step towards future growth; additional research parameters are available in a separate report. One value of Kraft is adaptability for local tastes. Biscuits, including cookies and milk crackers, are already in expansion. Milk mixed with Tang has proven successful and Ensureé by Abbott is a possible competitor in certain regions. As China has a need for safe drinking water or products, production of premixed drinks enhanced with calcium or fiber would allow for storage and shipping to areas of China without an urban base.
