Organizational culture, workforce diversity, communication, organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and organizational learning are several terms that are associated with organizational behavior. This paper will give a clear understanding of these terms and concepts and provide examples of each as it relates to the McCormick County Water Department.
Organizational Behavior"Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups in organizations" (Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn, Chap. 1, p. 3). In order to understand organization behavior one must know what an organization is. "Organizations are collections of people working together to achieve a common purpose" (Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn, Chap. 1, p. 6). Organizational behavior studies relationships in terms of individuals, work groups, and the whole organization itself. Organization behavior is very important because its purpose is to develop better work relationships and to enhance the quality of individuals, groups, and organizations.

All employees who are employed in the office wear casual business clothing. Employees are to keep a well kept appearance when working in the office. All employees who work out of the office are to wear uniforms and safety shoes provided the McCormick County Water Department. All employees who wear uniforms are to have their shirts tucked inside their pants at all times. During the first two weeks of every month every meter reader knows that this is the time for reading meters and all meter readers have to read within those two weeks. Every one that is employed by the McCormick County Water Department knows that the customers are top priority.
