Organizational Trends

In today's competitive business world organizations have realized the importance of their employees as their most important resource. This idea leads to the importance of the study of organizational behavior. In order to understand organizational behavior precisely, we must first understand trends in organizational behavior and how these trends have an impact on employees. Organizational behavior trends may include globalization, diverse workforce, organizational culture, work-related stress, technology, influence of ethics on decision making, team work, politics and power, conflict management and motivation. Trends in organizational behavior have a huge impact on organizations and their employees.

"Stress is tension from extraordinary demands, constraints, or opportunities in the organization".(Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2005).There are numerous reasons for work related stress such as work overload, personality conflict, fear of losing one's job, high or vague expectations of the organization, office politics, formal and informal hierarchies and technology.

"Technology is the technical means people use to improve their surroundings, using knowledge, tools, and systems to make their lives easier and better". Technology provides people with a range of options to stay organized and be more efficient and productive. It has the potential to provide employees with the tools they need to do a better job.

In today's business market, technology is constantly advancing and evolving. The various demands imposed upon individuals within an organization are related to keeping technological knowledge current, developing the skills necessary to apply technology in the work environment, and provide support that insures the proper functionality of technology. Technology provides organizations and employees with the support and tools for making decisions easier and in some cases less stressful.
