PART ONE: APPLICATION

The group

The place of the situation is a bank's dealingroom. There are eight young professional dealers, most of them with more than 3 years experience in a dealingroom. Half of them have high educational background. They are motivated mainly by money. There are four different desks with different type of business.

Money market desk: The main target of the desk is liquidity and interest rate management. The profit producing ability of the desk is low.

The job here is not stressful, and basically it is sometimes boring. The two dealers have been working here for 8 years. They have not high educational background, but they have great experience.

Foreign Exchange desk: This desk manages the foreign exchange risk of the bank, but because of the product it has a great profit producing ability. The dealers can open speculative positions on their own, and with the approval of the chief dealer they can open huge strategic FX positions for the bank. In an ordinary dealing room, this desk produce more than the half of the profit of the whole room. But this is not true in our situation, the profit of the desk is very low. There are two ladies on the desk, they are not very good dealers, and they are not motivated to speculate. They have not educational background,
