Through out my life I have been setting goals. My goals have a tendency to change over time. Whether they are personal, long term, or short term goals, if I don't accomplish them I feel like I'm a failure. Many of my family members have been to college but none of them had finished. I try to set obtainable goals for myself. Challenging all obstacles that might try and stand in my way, I promised myself that I would be the first one in my family to graduate from college.

When I graduated from high school my goal was to become a nurse. I started my prerequisite classes and got half way through and decided that, it was not what I really wanted to do. I thought maybe if I find my first job it would point me in the right direction of my career. I started working for a tax service business.

I really liked working there but the company moved out of state. That put me right back where I started. I started taking several different business classes at the local city college but it really didn't benefit anything without a college degree.

About two years ago I went back to school to start a new career. My first goal was to get a degree. I accomplished that goal by receiving an Associates Degree in Business. That really reduced a lot of the stress in my life. I found that setting personal goals helps my self esteem and my confidence. Even though I received my degree, there was something still missing.

I knew in order for me to reach my goals I would have to continue my education. I would like to have a stable career in the Accounting field. My long term goal now is to become...
