Teens today are a great portion of the percentage of American People smoking. Many of them do it because of peer pressure and others because they simply can't quit smoking. Although adults smoke, tobacco companies try to attract more teens, since they are easier to persuade and can be a long time consumer. Meanwhile the Surgeon General has confirmed that cigarette smoking is dangerous to everyone's health. I totally support the Surgeon General; because of everything I know smoking can cause.

Fist of all, many teens don't know that the only thing smoking will give them is a slow painful death. Others know it but they just don't care about themselves. Almost every single person knows their smoking gives cancer and they still do it. Not only does smoking affects the smoker, but it also affects others as second-hand smoke and the environment.

Secondly, the types of cancer someone can get by smoking is not only in the lungs.

Not that lungs are not important, since lungs are one of the most important organisms in someone's body. Lungs are the organs that allow someone to breath and if they start to malfunction people get difficulties on breathing. Another type of cancer you can get by smoking is throat cancer. With this type of cancer, people can lose their voice permanently. Also, cancer is sometimes not noted in a person until it's in a very advance stage and some times too late to even get a treatment for it.
