Product Design

The life of any business entity greatly lies on the product it offers in the market. Any product less than an excellent product strategy can be devastating to a firm. To wit, great and best products are the keys to success.

Products offered in the market will tell a lot about the company, starting from its mission vision down to its end users. Design says a lot about a product and the company itself, and increasingly is a short-hand way of saying a lot about the consumers. As a result most companies allocate a big amount of their resources in the product design process. On the average, 80 percent of the cost of a product is set at the design stage. In addition, 93 percent of production materials are never used in the final product which makes product design development very expensive for unsuccessful product design.

Excellent products are the result of an excellent product design.

Arriving however at a successful product design is not an easy process and requires a rigorous analysis of the end users. As can be seen from the figure below, product development starts from idea generation and ends on the evaluation whether the product itself satisfies the needs of its customers.
