I decided to select the mask to support my theme statement. At the beginning of film, only V was wearing the Guy Fawkes mask. I believe it symbolizes his how he is enlightened while others choose to be left in the darkness. I used the black background to symbolize the ignorance of the people. However, the mask of V is white. In contrast with the black background, the white of V’s mask shows that he has almost pure intentions. This is contradicted only by the patches of black, the spots where he cannot reveal even to the person he cares about most.

While, on the other hand, the mask of V is a symbol that of a just terrorist which resist with the government with violence.

The white mask in the black background is striking, sole and individual. Nobody knows what the mysterious face looks like, but everybody knows what the master of the face did.

The government enforces the oppressive policy, such as the spy organization. Moreover, the government will send the people who do not accept their management to the camp. Because of the above-mentioned causations, the citizen became very scared and timid. Nobody dare to confront the government, accordingly, the citizens only do what the government asked to do. So the ideology gets into mechanical and ignorant.

V impels the tempo of disenchantment of the public with his extreme action, such as occupied the TV station. Gradually, more and more people were aroused, they thought they should overcome and struggle with the government. To be noticeable, when everyone worn their masks like V did and past through the arms in the square. It is the climax of the film. In addition, it is also a sign of the public’s disillusion. They became to be awakening from the former situation (scared or ignorant).

There are several dialogues below:1)People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people. ( V symbolizes the enlightened individual. He appeals the public to be arousal )2)The building is a symbol, as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people. Alone, a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people, blowing up a building can change the world. (It alluded that Strength through unity! Unity through faith!)3) He was Edmond Dantés... and he was my father. And my mother... my brother... my friend. He was you... and me. He was all of us. ( there is a detail in the film, when Evey stayed in the Deitrich’s home. He cooked a egg like V did. It presents V can be everyone, everyone who has the freedom wishes, even the scared and ignorant citizens.)
