(Process essay) DO IT YOURSELF: OIL/FILTER CHANGE

Changing the oil is a simple maintenance job that I usually do for my car every 3,000 miles. There is only one reason why I love to do it by myself. That is the satisfaction of doing an important job with my own two hands and the fun of a weekend after a job well done. Many techniques I have read that show us how to change the motor oil is so complicated, or sometimes I don't understand at all. Here are five easy steps to the process of changing the oil and filter. I hope my procedure will be easy that everybody can follow and enjoy doing it at home on the weekend.

Before you start to do these easy steps, please follow my safety tips first. You should double check your manual for specific safety measures during an oil change. Place chocks against the wheels to prevent your car rolling, never use a jack to change oil.

Do not permit anyone inside the car while changing oil. Be careful of hot, draining oil, and double check to make sure the oil filter is seated properly.

First, you have to know what's needed to start. See your owner's manual to find out how many quarts of oil are needed and the "weight" of the oil recommended. Get a new oil filter for the make, model and year of your car. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully on how to thread and mount filter. You'll need an oil filter wrench to remove the old filter, and a wrench to fit your car's oil drain plug.

Second, park position your car in driveway or similar safe and convenient location. Run the car's engine for ten minutes before you drain the oil then turn off the engine. Crawl under the car to place...
