The Pursuit of the American DreamAs declared in the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the inalienable rights are the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," and with this saying the true American Dream began. During the early 1800s, the first settlers traveled west to seek land and opportunity in the new frontier on fresh American soil. The American Dream seemed so simple for the settlers traveling during those years. The opportunity to gain success from literally nothing was flourishing throughout the west lands. The American dream that the settlers were striving for created the stepping stones toward the foundation for the American Dream that we are striving for today. I believe that everyone has their own American Dream, a dream that one fights for in hope for a better life. One can be rich or poor, black or white, and still have the opportunity to pursue their happiness and become successful through hard work and determination.

The American Dream is obtainable for everyone who wishes to pursue it. America is the land of opportunity, everyone who resides in America is offered the chance to obtain their own American Dream. One person's dream might be different than the next person's, but both people are striving to achieve the same goal, which is to be happy with the success that they have created for themselves. America has set the foundation for each person to pursue their own dream. America offers freedom, equality, and the pursuit of one's own happiness. People travel from all over the world to America each year in search for a better life.
