People judge you for your apperance but really people don't know who you are. "Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself"- Lois Bujold. In this quote my interpetation is that reputation means when people judge you about your apperance and what people hear about you and honor is what you made to show yourself. I agree with my interpetation because when a person smokes or gets drunk many people thinks that person is an ignorant and cannot do anything but cause trouble but really that person can be intelligent and get good grades in school. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson can support this quote. The Outsiders support the quote "Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself"- Lois Bujold. The first detail that supports the quote is when Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy saved the children in the church while it was on fire.
It support this quote because the greasers reputation is to be cool, tough, and to do nothing but cause trouble. When Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy saved the childrens lives it showed that they can be good and care about others.
The Outsiders
You don't really say how the poem "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson supports your thesis statement. Perhaps you could develop the idea that Richard Cory was widely admired by all because he appeared to be a true gentlemen who treated all with respect. He was even envied because of his great wealth and physical attributes. Still, one day he went home and put a bullet through his head, illustrating that a man's reputation isn't always a true indication of reality.
