Abstract

This paper examines the extent of usage of Internet among Middle East Technical University undergraduates and how this influenced their performance. Internet is an effective tool for academics and students. The Internet has been shown to be largely effective at the academic performance of students. The influence of the Internet on academic performance as shown in available literature has shown that it could be positive and/or negative. A questionnaire was designed and delivered to students in Department Of Foreign Language Education in Middle East Technical University, Turkey. A total of 79 respondents returned the completed questionnaire. Three research questions were raised and were accordingly addressed. After all the paper showed that if the Internet services are used for academic purposes, the performance of students in institutions of higher learning in Middle East Technical University will improve.
