Revenge
In 2011, the television show Revenge was released, a
series of drama, mystery, and thrill. Revenge is captivating
through it's use of suspense between episodes and the drama
between characters. The show moves forward by revealing
secrets about the characters and their pasts, as well as a web
of lives woven by the main character about who she is and what
her purpose is in the Hamptons. The status held in society by
the majority of the characters causes them to care very much
about their image in the media, making them do everything in
their power to keep scandals from becoming public news.
Revenge is a show filled with deceit, lies, scandal, romance,
and of course, great revenge.
At the beginning of the series, Emily Thorne is
introduced, and the audience learns that she is in fact,
Amanda Clarke, daughter of David Clarke. Emily moves back into
her childhood home in the Hamptons, next door to the
Grayson's, the royalty in the Hamptons. When Emily was a
child, the Grayson's framed her father for a crime that they
had committed, and, while he was in prison, the Grayson's had
David Clarke killed from the inside. Emily spent her life
gathering evidence against all of the people that played a
part in betraying her father, and planned to exact revenge on
every one of them. Emily's greatest target was Victoria
Grayson, and to get close to her, she marries Victoria's son,
Daniel. However, many secrets are revealed, and scandal is
leaked to media, making it very difficult for Emily to take
down the Grayson's for good.
Emily Thorne is a very strong character. She shows a lot
of passion through her acts of revenge and hatred towards the
people that betrayed her father,
