Richard Clay Hamilton is the starting shooting guard for the 2004 NBA Champions, the Detroit Pistons. The 6'7, 210lbs, Hamilton is one of the NBA's top shooting guards. Rip is known for his hasty speed and quickness off the dribble. He can create his own shot and is a superior mid-range shooter and at age 26 he has already prevailed at winning an NBA championship.

Richard spent his college career at UCONN. His freshman season Rip made the transition from high to college look simple. He was honored as Rookie of the year, by the New England Basketball Coaches Association; he was a member of the Big East All-Rookie team, NIT All-Tournament team, and a member of the NIT All-Star team. He had continuous success during the remainder of his college career. His sophomore year he was elected to the 2nd team All-American, New England Player of the Year, UConn team MVP and ranked number 17 in the nation in scoring and No.1,

in 3-point shooting. He was also chosen as a member of the Big East All-Tournament team. In addition he was named to the 10-man John Wooden All-American team and ECAC Player of the Year both his sophomore and junior years. His junior year was his most dominate year as he led the Huskies through the NCAA Tournament. He received his most prestigious award of his basketball career during the 1999 Final Four. He was named Most Outstanding Player, and Final Four Player of the Year after scoring 27 points to help the Huskies win the NCAA tournament over Duke. That year he was one of only three college players selected for the 1999 USA Basketball, Men's Senior National Team.
