For this the following points shall be considered:•Statutory requirements for such operations;•Details of suitable safe systems of work for daily operation including maintenance and inspection work;•Hazards associated with this equipment and;•control methods (for hazards identified above) that should be implemented to reduce any associated risks to the lowest level that is reasonable practicable.

CaseThe University of Central Lancashire has experienced a shortage of car park spaces in recent months and a decision has been made to construct a multi story car par in front of foster building, the work involves a 4 storey car park. During the construction work, the entrance to Foster Building will be via Maudland Building. The company for which you are health and safety advisor employs about 150 personnel on a medium size construction company. Your organisation has hired a luffing tower crane for this project.

Risk assessmentContextFirstly, in order to reduce all risks assessments should be done by first following the planning stage by gathering information about other such projects which have taken place resources are defined, communication and consultations are set up. This will not only benefit the project but also improve quality of the car park. Part of this planning phase involves identifying legal requirements and deciding on limits for acceptable risks . In cases like this where hazards are unable to be eliminated risks cannot be reduced to zero but must be minimized as far as practical.

Monitoring:All the steps in risk management are to be monitored; the most important aspect of this is the collection of data on losses such as accidents, hazard reports, first aid injuries and absence from work, etc . which is past records, these records can be collected first hand or second hand which ever comes...
