Seeds of Faith

I am a child of God and made in the image of God.

One of my favorite parables is about the mustard seed. Jesus said that even if our faith is as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains. I also read that the kingdom of God is like a tiny mustard seed that may grow into a huge plant. In school we learned that sunlight, rain and soil help a seed to grow into a plant. It reminds me that all of these need to be present for a seed to grow.

Planting seeds of faith means a lot to me. I do not need to be a grown up to serve God. Even as a child I can do big things for God. A healthy tree will bear good fruit. A child of God who listens and obeys His word is like a strong tree that will bear good and delicious fruit.

I can do that by listening to my parents, obeying my teachers and talking to God through prayers everyday. My good deeds will again become seeds for others to grow in God. By giving my time, my efforts and my goods the seeds I planted in others receive the nourishment they need to grow to become strong believers.

It is an interesting cycle that I would like to be a part of. From my tiny mustard seed I can have a garden. I can do great things as a child if I have faith in God, listen to His word and obey His commands. Another parable warns me not to be away from God.
