Abstract

This paper will discusses David Berkowitz who murderous terror gripped New York City from 1976 to 1977. David Berkowitz, known as the Son of Sam, was finally arrested, tried and convicted for the series of gun-attacks that left six people dead; seven wounded and put an entire city in fear. The paper shows that when caught, while there was a potential for his being determined to be insane. This paper will show how David Berkowitz suffered from serve hallucination and was somewhat psychological disturbed. David worshiped demon and felt that objects were demons and was telling him to kill.

What is a serial killer? A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people over a period of over more than thirty days with a cooling off period between killings. A serial killer motivation is mainly on psychological gratification. Often time's sexual elements are involved in the killings.

Serial killer often time in their minds think it is ok to kill a person. They like knowing that someone's life could rely in their hands. Serial killers like begin in control of the situation. This had to do with power and control. Serial killers come in all different shapes and sizes. Serial killers are a growth of the developed world; they really didn't "come about" until the late eighteen-hundreds when society was becoming reorganized and the threat of the new age kind of displaced some individuals so much they felt they had to kill to get their point across to society.

Studies have shown that most serial killer have had childhood experiences that were bad or presented violence. Many serial killers either lived alone and took charge for themselves or even were adopted and rebelled from their parents. Some facts about serial killers are most of...
